About Us
At the beginning of 2006, during a close friends gathering in Toronto, a vision was born. This vision was to establish a small orphanage centre named My Father’s House (MFH) in a small town called Nazareth, just over 100 kms, south of Addis Ababa, the country’s capital.
My Father’s House – a Canadian registered non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making venture set up purposely to help in alleviating the suffering of orphan children. It is a compassion and love-driven service to the children based on the attitude of Christ: “He saw a great multitude; he felt compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd.” (Mark 6:34). The great multitude, we believe, includes destitute children.
Since its inception, MFH:
· Has taken 13 orphans, children at risk and children under extreme poverty to be cared under a living in nanny in a rental property.
· Is providing full financial support for 40 children from very poor families through the local municipal’s children services.
· Provides micro finance to 10 struggling poor families per year to help them start a small business
You will definitely touch the life of a child from the poorest of the poor in a war-torn and poverty-stricken country. There are four ways in which you can help:
1) There are orphaned children who are housed in a rented place with a hired mother-figure person to raise them. Their overhead cost is higher, with one child at 60 Canadian dollars per month (or yearly $720). You can take a child as yours and raise him or her by funding his/her cost on a monthly basis. We have made it easy that you can share the cost with a partner, each contributing 30 dollars per month.
2) There are also needy children who live with one or both parents or relatives, but are the poorest of the poor. Since they have no housing cost, their living cost is estimated at 30 dollars per child. This will cover living cost, schooling and medical facilities. In both cases, you will build a loving relationship with a child and see his or her progress to fulfill his or her dream and potential.
3) Monthly or yearly donation as much as you can, to be shared among all children or giving a chance to poor families to start a small business .
4) Seasonal donation (Christmas, birthdays and school opening and closing seasons) – a receipt will be issued for funds in excess of ten dollars.
